You hear it all the time….”drink more water”. But are you drinking it at the right time? Water should be consumed between meals, as opposed to during meals. Why? Because, from a digestion standpoint, your body prioritizes water over food. So let’s say your sitting down to dinner and you’ve got a plate of food and a large glass of water. You begin gulping water between bites, and in less than 15 minutes, you finish with an empty glass and plate. Now there’s food & water for your body to digest AT THE SAME TIME. This is not ideal. Your body will assimilate the water (or any other liquid) first. So what happens to the food? It begins fermenting in your digestive track, waiting its turn. I’m not suggesting you forgo SIPPING while you eat, but keep in mind that it will be much harder on your body to do both at the same time.
